![]() SAN DIEGO, CA - A small deal involving infielders was made today between NL West foes. The San Diego Padres received Matt Tolbert, sending Felipe Lopez one state over to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tolbert is viewed as insurance at second base if the Padres can’t address the need in the upcoming rookie draft. With Brent Morel expected to be the team’s starting third baseman in 2012, the Padres felt at ease in letting Lopez go. “The guy hit .216 and made 24 errors in a season where we lost the division by one game! I won’t miss him,” manager Tim Stoops boldly stated.
